On January 20th 2012, the official
installation of the associate professor for Scenario Planning, Albert Postma
took place at Stenden University Leeuwarden. Family, friends, academics,
pofessionals and other stakeholders of Stenden and its European Tourism Futures
Institute (ETFI) came together to celebrate this important milestone.
Postma started his speech by
highlighting the past of tourism research at Stenden University, the revolution
of future studies and the way we look at the future nowadays. He explained the
insecurities of the future, how and if future can be influenced. Moreover,
methods how to get a hold of our future(s), the differences between forecasting
and foresight were elaborated and of course scenario planning and how it is
